My sister Heather has been busy getting two bulletin boards ready for Dot Day as they get ready to go back to school.
She wants to kick off the year making their mark on the world!
Heather has been making some really neat projects with books that she has weeded from the library and her home collection....I will share more on my blog soon.
But for now, I want to share two she made for Dot Day!
First, she took apart a book....James and the Giant Peach, for this one.
She typed out Just Make A Mark. She used Fredericka the Great in size 400. She cut the letters out, laid them out on the book pages and glued them to the pages with rubber cement.
I love how beautiful the letters and pages look together.
She will hang these on a bulletin board. Heather is going to have the students make their mark on little pieces of paper with frames around them to place all over the board.
To make your own letters, you can go to this link and make a copy of the phrase and letters.
If you want to change the font and size, do that as well once you make a copy.
You can get to this Google Document here.
In the second project, Heather took apart a couple weeded books with colored pages. She then created the phrase Please Don't Squish My "Ish" using Fredericka The Great in size 400 again.
For these letters, Heather did them in color and printed them on a colored printer before she cut them out to glue onto the weeded book pages.
I love how her letter blocks look on the fabric covered bulletin board lined with tassel trim.
We also created these letters in a Google Doc that you can use for your very own Please Don't Squish My "Ish" bulletin board too.
The letters right now are in black and white. If you want them colored, please make a copy and do that from yours.
I have put together a Weeded Book Crafts, Projects and Repurposing Pinterest Board with this post about Heather's project and lots of others.
If you would like to add to this, please let me know. I'd love to collaborate with you on this.
Also, I added Heather's Book Pages for Dot Day Project to our International Dot Day Pinterest Board. This is always one of the best places to go for lots of ideas. You can also read this post from my blog giving you more ideas and ways to connect for Dot Day too.
