One of my favorite weeks each year is Children's Book Week.
This year on May 1-7, we will be celebrating Children's Book Week 98th Birthday with celebrations taking place across America, including all of those happening within our school libraries and communities too.
According to the Children's Book Week flyer and website,
Children's Book Week is the longest-running national literacy event in the country. Established in 1919, it is the annual celebration of books for young people and for the joy of reading. Each year during Children's Book Week, children's-book-inspired events are held nationwide at schools, libraries, bookstores, home...wherever young readers and books connect.
This year with the official slogan, One World, Many Stories, children and all readers are encouraged to explore the world through books.
I picked up this wonderful poster...
and activity kit at the ALA Midwinter Conference a few weeks ago.
You can also find so much for Children's Book Week at the new website from Every Child A Reader here.
This website is brand new! Very soon you will find Media Tools, Fun Stuff, Locations for Events and information about Partners, along with information about the event itself.
For now, please sign up to participate in Children's Book Week here.
We can't wait to celebrate another wonderful week with all of you and the many amazing children's books we all love.
