I love visiting all of the beautiful National Parks here in the United States.
When I was growing up, my family went on a vacation every summer and we visited several of the National Parks along the way. We went to Rocky Mountain National Park, Glacier National Park, Badlands National Park, Grand Canyon National Park, Mesa Verde National Park, Yellowstone National Park, and many more.
As I had my own family, we also visited several over the last twenty years. Last year, Eric and I took Hagan and I to Rocky Mountain National Park and this summer we are planning a trip to Mesa Verde and Black Canyon of the Gunnison National Park, which are both in Colorado.
And this summer, it will be very special as the National Park Service turns 100 on August 25, 2016 and the celebration is happening all year long!
There are special events, programs, and resources that are available.
One of the neatest resources is the website called Find Your Park.
On this site, you can Find Your Park and then share your stories and experiences with everyone.
Also, President Obama has partnered with the Department of the Interior to bring...
all of our 4th graders and their families the Every Kid In A Park program. This program brings America's natural wonder and historic sites to these families for free.
On the Every Kid In A Park website, there is a special place for Educators.
You can get passes for your students by...
downloading the activity guides and
generating the passes after they have completed the activities.
My niece Grayce is in 4th grade and I can't wait to tell her parents about this program...and to have her share this with the teacher too.
If you are looking for other ideas on how to celebrate all of the National Parks this year, please check out the National Parks Pinterest Board we put together.
I have some very special books to share with all of you too.
In my next post about National Parks, I will share a few of my favorite books from Cantata Learning and others that will be a wonderful connection for this amazing national event.
