Christmas Came Early This Year!

The last few weeks of my writing life sure have been exciting.  First, I told you about becoming a children's author with Cantata Learning and two book series that I am creating with them.
You can read about it in the post When Dreams Come True...My Road To Becoming A Children's Author With Cantata Learning.

Well....a week later, I have another amazing opportunity to share.

I couldn't be more excited about partnering with In This Together Media, an incredible book packaging company that produces children's fiction with characters who are more diverse in terms of gender, race, sexual orientation and experience.

I've had the pleasure of serving on their advisory board for a few years and am now making the jump to an In This Together Media author of their first ever illustrated kids book called THE NAUGHTY LIST, a modern day version of THE BEST CHRISTMAS PAGEANT EVER!

Together with Saira Rao and Carey Albertine, the brains behind In This Together, I'm going to craft this awesome new Christmas book and then ITTM's agent, Jess Regel of Foundry Literary + Media, will sell it off to a publisher.  Even cooler, Jess is from Iowa like me!
Let me tell you a little more about In This Together Media.

In This Together Media believe in the power of STORY and how we can change the world one STORY at a time.  They also believe that everyone, you, me, us, can make our world more equitable one baby step at a time.

That's why they've launched their #InThisTogether campaign.

They're putting forth different -- and easily doable -- things we can do to change the world.

For example...
1) Asking female authors, like JK Rowling and RJ Palacio, to use their names rather than initials. #UseYourName

2) Asking girls to stop saying "sorry" as a filler word.  #YourWordsMatter
3) Asking parents to stop telling their sons to "man up."  #YourWordsMatter

They are asking you to join their movement.

How?

1) Connect with In This Together Media on social media (FB, Twitter, Instagram and Pinterest).

2) Like/Comment/Share their #InThisTogether posts, which consist of unique memes

3) Send them your own ideas as to actions we can all take.  You never know, YOUR idea might become their next meme!

As for our story.

I can't wait to tell you more about it as it unfolds.

Christmas definitely came early this year!
