With Banned Books Week coming up on September 26 through October 2, 2021, I have put together a new Collection by Destiny to help with planning our celebration at Van Meter and with ideas and resources to help support our teachers and students too.
In the Banned Book Week Collection, you will find lots of resources from ALA from the Banned Books site and pages, Pinterest boards from ALA and SLJ, the Kids' Right to Read Project, videos from authors and illustrators of banned books and more.
At Van Meter, I am making two Banned Book Week displays and putting together a BINGO for different age levels to promote awareness and conversations in the library and classrooms. I will also be bringing books from the banned book lists to classrooms as teachers use them in discussions and activities too.
I found this Banned Books Titlewave List so helpful in looking for more books to support our readers, teachers and activities. It is filled with books for all ages and different genres. You will find it here.
This is such an important week for our readers, libraries and communities. I would love to hear how you celebrate Banned Books Week, friends.
