Let's Celebrate National Hispanic Heritage Month With This Amazing New Site Filled With Reading, Learning, Resources & More From Our Friends At Capstone!

We are all so excited to celebrate National Hispanic Heritage Month, which is September 15-October 15, 2022. We celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month to recognize the achievements and contributions of Hispanic American champions who have inspired others to achieve success.

I will be sharing several different ways to celebrate this special month, but the first resource I am going to share is Capstone's special National Hispanic Heritage Month website. In fact, I will be using the Capstone site and resources as we plan celebrations, learning and activities around this content, and as we smash it up with other digital tools such as Kahoot, Pear Deck, PebbleGo Create, StickTogether, The Achievery and so much more.

As shared on the Capstone National Hispanic Heritage Month website

National Hispanic Heritage Month is celebrated from September 15 to October 15 and honors the histories, traditions, diverse cultures, and contributions of Hispanic and Latine Americans. September 15 is an important date in the history of many Latin American countries (Costa Rica, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, and Nicaragua) as it’s when they declared their independence from Spain in 1821.

Did you know that the Hispanic population in the United States is more than 62 million people? This vibrant community includes 21 Spanish-speaking countries and territories and is the largest ethnic group in the United States. Two great resources to learn more about this month include the Library of Congress’ National Hispanic Heritage Month website and the National Park Service’s Hispanic Heritage Month page.

Join us in celebrating the Hispanic and Latine community! We’re spotlighting essays from Capstone authors Keka NovalesAlicia Salazar, and Alex Sanchez, plus have fun activities for your classroom, the perfect books for kids, and PebbleGo articles to extend student learning.

This year Capstone is excited to share several additions including....

  • Guest blog posts from authors Keka Novales (¡Hola, Lola!), Alicia Salazar (Camila the Star), and Alex Sanchez (The Greatest Superpower)
  • Downloadable recipes for Chocolate Caliente and Hojarascas, Lola coloring sheets (live tomorrow), Camila bookmarks, and a Dia de los Muertos word search

  • Link to PebbleGo and PebbleGo Next article maps

  • Curated book list to celebrate the month

I am so excited about all of these amazing resources as I create a choice board to share on September 15 with our students and teachers, and as we plan activities and learning too.

I will be sharing the Hispanic Heritage Month Choice Board tomorrow, and all of the other resources and ideas throughout the month too.
You will find Capstone's National Hispanic Heritage Month website here, friends.
