Reading Rangers is meaningful online reading practice, filled with engaging experiences that help improve reading fluency and comprehension. Students earn tokens during the program’s fun activities, which increases engagement and motivation while building foundational reading skills. It can be used as a supplement to any core reading program.
As my friend and second grade teacher, Tracy Ferguson, and I shared Reading Rangers with her students, they were so excited to watch the video of the characters sharing the goals behind this new reading practice program based around gamification and so much more.
Reading Rangers provides:
- Opportunities to learn new vocabulary, listen to and practice fluent reading, and illustrate comprehension
- Activities that follow a structured path of learning for students still in the acquisition phase of foundational literacy skills as well as those at different phases of learning
- Reports that illustrate student success and challenges
We explained to the second graders they would be giving Reading Rangers a try over the next few months as we watched their reading fluency, vocabulary and comprehension grow and strengthen.
As the students logged into the accounts we set up for them, they couldn't wait to meet Buckleboot, Dewey and other fun characters.
They set off to engage in challenges,
journeys, quests, puzzles and more.
And they were so excited to see they would be rescuing and saving animals along the way.
