A Special Day At Our School With Author, Mary Kauffman and Her Wonderful Stories

We love it when authors and illustrators visit our school. Last week, we were so excited to welcome our friend and author, Mary Kauffman to Van Meter. 

In fact, Mary even brought along her three daughters and just happens to be related to our Mr. Linde. 

Mary has three books, One New Friend, One Big Sock and One Loose Tooth. 

Our TK, kindergarten, first and second grade students and teachers...

...enjoyed listening to Mary's stories and...

...asking her questions. 

With our 2nd graders, Mary then did a fun writing activity...

...where each student wrote a story. 

They loved taking turns....

....sharing them with their classmates...

... and teachers. 

Our first graders wrote stories to share with Mary during her visit. 

She loved listening to a few and took them with her to read and give feedback.

The kids can't wait to see the comments Mary leaves about their stories. Today, I saw this post on Mary's Facebook page with a few of their stories. I can't wait to share this with them tomorrow. They will be super excited.
