We are excited to announce our upcoming Future Ready Librarians Webinar, Reconsideration Process: From Complaint to Conclusion, on April 27, 2022 at 4:00pm EST.
Two special guests, Martha Hickson, Librarian, North Hunterdon-Voorhees Regional High School District (NJ), @sassy_librarian and Elissa Malespina, Librarian, Verona Public Schools (NJ) & Board Member, Maplewood School District (NJ), @elissamalespina will be joining me for this important webinar.
As shared online,
We’ve all heard about the recent attempts to remove books from school libraries. But what happens after a complaint is lodged? In this session, we’ll learn about both ends of the reconsideration process to understand how a school librarian and a board of education member respond to book challenges.
During the webinar the panelists will:
- Describe a school librarian’s reaction and response to a book challenge;
- Explain the reconsideration process and red flags to look for;
- Explain the role school boards & school district policies play in book challenges; and
- Learn how to build robust school policies & procedures that will help combat challenges.
You can register for the webinar here. Don't worry if you can't join live, because you will be sent the recording and resources after the webinar too.
Hope to see you there, friends.
