We love hosting book fairs at our school. When we announce a book fair is coming to the library, our readers get so excited about the choice of books, the special themes and activities of the book fair, and of course, bringing their families to find books at take home.
This week, I have been making plans to bring Literati Book Fairs back to our library for the second time this school year. Our first Literati Book Fair last fall was a huge success bringing a wonderful selection of books that sparked imaginations, strengthened literacy skills, and brought excitement to our readers.

This book fair has something for all readers. With four children, I appreciate the variety of books from various publishers they can choose from, including picture books, nonfiction and graphic novels. And I love there are so many books in paperback and value books. They are all going home with a few books they can't wait to read.
Literati Book Fairs definitely stands out among book fairs and I couldn't be more excited to bring it back to our library and readers.

From the moment you decide to host a Literati Book Fair, it is very easy to get started and all set up.
You will sign up
online at Literati Book Fairs. There are lots of resources to help you plan, promote, run and celebrate your fair every step of the way. The guidance and communication from Literati is very helpful.
After you are all signed up, find the
Literati Book Fair Guidebook for Coordinators & Volunteers.
This will walk you through the planning, set up and wrap up of the fair. The ideas, tips and recommendations are very helpful, creative and fun.
The guide, along with Literati's Book Fair site are filled with Book Fair Resources, which helps everyone have a successful book fair. All of the resources and downloadables go along with the book fair theme and are free to download. These can be printed or used online for social, newsletters, emails, etc...
Another important aspect that differentiates Literati Book Fairs from other book fairs is how easy it is to set up in your space.
From moving the Literati Book Fair crates into the library,
to uncovering...
...and opening up the book cases, it takes minutes. The same with tearing it down. It's super easy for everyone.
The cases are numbered based on reading level, so you can arrange them in an order that makes discoverability and shopping the easiest for your community.
When you have the cases in place, just slip the signage into the slots at the top. This makes each case and display so simple to browse and shop from during the fair.
I love the signage at the top of the case and how they draw the students to the books they want to look at during the fair.

As we get ready for our Literati Book Fair in March, I am planning special events for our school community.
After the book fair is all set up and ready to go, we will host a Teacher Preview event after school and our students will participate in Student Preview events during check out in the library that week. Everyone will make their very own wish list too.
We will send home the Student Wish Lists and post the Teacher Wish Lists in a special display at the book fair. We always want to make sure all of the families see their wish lists to purchase books from while they are at the fair.
Students can even put a cute little name plate in the front of the book. These are provided by Literati in the Book Fair Resources.
One last thing that really makes Literati Book Fairs the best are the rewards options. We can take book profit, cash reward or Titlewave credit.
At our fair in the fall, we earned 30% of our fair's rewards-eligible revenue on
Titlewave, where I can shop an endless selection of books and other educational materials for our library. This was a huge benefit to me as I do my book selection, ordering and processing through Follett's Titlewave.
It was a wonderful experience hosting a Literati Book Fair and seeing all of our readers leave with a special new book in their hands. Some of them told me stories of where the new book would go in their bedroom, while others told me their new book was by their favorite author.
And one of our youngest readers came up to me with this book in their hand saying,
Mrs. Miller, I want this book because of the sloth on the front. I can't read it yet but my mom and dad can read it to me and my brother. And someday, I can read this book myself.
That is why we do what we do as librarians and teachers, and now Literati Book Fairs can help us connect our readers to special books and experiences to grow and support their love of reading too.
