Be Part Of The Breakout EDU Lock-Tober Community Game Challenge With Your Students! Check Out The Games Our Students Are Creating This Week!

One of our favorite digital tools is Breakout EDU!

There are tons of new Fall and Halloween themed games for students to play - both kit and digital all month long.

Each month, I put together a choice board filled with digital Breakout EDU games that our students have fun solving.  This month, the October Digital Breakout EDU choice board is filled with Halloween and fall games. It has been such a hit with our learners.

If you would like to use this as a template, you can find the Google Slide here to push a copy.

Another thing we LOVE about Breakout EDU is that our students can create their own digital games in the Game Design Studio!

They were especially excited to hear this month is....

....Lock-Tober 2022 and time for the Community Game Challenge!

As shared on the site,

We’re looking for some spooktacular puzzles to combine into a fun Halloween-themed game that will be released on October 24th. Watch our short puzzle design lesson below to see how to use Adobe Express within the Game Design Studio to create spooktacular puzzles.
Our 3rd, 4th and 5th graders were up for the challenge and have been working hard on their games.

Not only is the Game Design Studio set up to teach and support our students throughout the process of creating their game, for Loc-Tober there are amazing resources the team at Breakout EDU have put together to support librarians, teachers and students too.
Let me show you how we used the Lock-Tober 2022 site.
We started out by watching this video explaining all of the steps of Lock-Tober and how the students can create their game.
Next, we moved to the Game Design Template,
which is super helpful to draw their game design first.

On the Lock-Tober site, there are other resources that can be used for inspiration including...
...Share a Spooky Story and Boo-tiful "We Broke Out" Signs to download and use for inspiration.

When our students had their idea down on the game design template, they were ready to move into the Game Design Studio, which now has Adobe Express built in!
They couldn't wait to dress up their characters with one of the Halloween-themed costumes.
It was so much fun to see what they picked!
After they dressed up their avatar, they jumped into the Game Design Studio to start creating.
They are finishing them up this week to submit them in time for Lock-Tober.
Teachers can use the Lock-Tober 2022 form to submit to Breakout EDU for inclusion in the free community game they will release at the end of the month. How fun is that!

We can't wait to see all of the games our students create....and that your students create for Lock-Tober too.

Have fun, friends.  You will find everything you need here on the Breakout EDU site Lock-Tober site.
