Games Week Is Coming....Look At The Games & Gaming Experiences You Can Bring To Your Library & Classroom!

One of my favorite things to bring into libraries and classrooms are games.  

We have board games, library games, online games, learning games, digital citizenship games and so much more!  This was an important part of our library and something that everyone can bring to your students and community too.  

And in November, we have the perfect week to bring games and gaming to our library.  

On October 29 to November 4 we celebrate International Games Week!  

As the Games in Libraries from ALA Game RT site states, 

International Games Week is an initiative run by volunteers from around the world to reconnect communities through their libraries around the educational, recreational, and social value of all types of games.

To get us ready for International Games Week, I have brought together three awesome resources for all of us to use.  

First, I created the Games For Your Library and Classroom Collection by Destiny.  

This is filled with resources that you can use during this celebration and all throughout the year. 

The second is this amazing Titlewave list of books and eResources for International Games Day our friends at Follett have put together for all of us.

And third, I have created a Padlet just for Games for the Library and Classroom. 

I love the posts on our Future Ready Librarian Facebook Group about games in the library, especially when board games are shared.  

With all of the posts and everyone trying to keep track of what is being shared, I created a Padlet tonight that we can collaborate on together.  

Not only did I include Board Games, but I also included a column for Digital Citizenship Games, Library Games, Makerspace Games, Breakout EDU and Online Learning Games.  

We can add more columns too...this is just a start.  

I just started adding links to the Padlet.  Please go to the Games for the Library and Classroom Padlet to share what your students love too. 

And don't forget to ask your students what they would add too.

5 New Halloween Quizzes From Kahoot....and So Much More!

Halloween is almost here and it is time to plan some fun for your libraries and classrooms.

This morning I found a post on the Kahoot blog, 5 Quizzes That Will Make Your Halloween Party Spook-Tacular!  

There is Halloween Trivia, 

 Halloween History, 

and others that will bring spookiness to your learners too.  

To make it easy to find and go back to, I added it to the Halloween For Library and Teachers Collection by Destiny. 

This is filled with wonderful sites, songs, stories, crafts, recipes and so much more!

Unlock The Buncee Badges With Creativity, Knowledge, Storytelling and More!

I can't wait to share this exciting news with all of you!  

Our friends at Buncee just announced Buncee Badges!  

Now students and teachers will be rewarded badges as they create Buncees showing off their creativity, knowledge, savvy storytelling and more.

 While starting out as a Buncee Explorer to a....

 Buncee Rockstar and...

all the way to a Buncee Grand Master, which I have yet to unlock as you can see.  

You will be able to get badges based on the total number of Buncees you've created (1 Buncee, 5 Buncees, 10, 15, 25, 30, 50, 100, 250). In addition, you can also receive badges when you create a Buncee continuously for some days in a row (5 days, 10 Days and 20 Days). 

I was so excited to see my Buncee Badges on my profile page....just think how motivating this will be for your students!  

Here are a few easy steps to know as you and your students start collection Buncee Badges too!  

1. The Buncee Badges will be in your profile page. First, go to dashboard, view profile and then there will be an achievements tab.

2.  You will receive a notification when you get a badge. 

3.  You can share them. 

4. And you can even download the Buncee badges to include in a Buncee, blog, portfolio and in lots of other awesome ways.
