Bringing Our Library Site To Life With An Interactive Choice Board For All Learners & Families

Our library website has become more important than it has ever been before.  It is the place our students, teachers and families go to find library and technology resources, and is now also the place where they find our remote learning pages, parent information and so much more.

As we teach students in a blended environment, with students learning at school and remotely at home, we need to make sure we have created places on our website that are well organized, engaging and take all students and families to the places they need quickly to find library and technology resources, events, Destiny Discover, Our Virtual Makerspace and sites we use often like PebbleGo, Capstone Interactive, Pear Deck and Buncee.

After going back and forth about how I was going to arrange Our Library page on the website, I decided to put it all together in a Google Slide as an interactive choice board. It will be a place I can bring all of these resources together and will also be a place our students love to go.

One of the big reasons I also love using choice boards is because of how easy it change and keep them updated throughout the year.  Since it is embedded into the Google Site, it automatically updates when I make changes in the Google Slide itself.

You can find the published slide here so you can take a look at what the students will see when they go to Our Library choice board.
As I put the choice board together,
I made sure to include all of the different pages I have created under Our Library tab.
I included audio books, eBooks, research resources, coding, keyboarding, technology and more.

I made sure to include a link to our Symbaloo and Collections by Destiny, our two main places we curate and share resources.
On the desktop computer, I added our Destiny Discover to the screen and a little sign that prompts them to click on the computer to search our Destiny.
Our databases are included on Destiny Discover and in the Symbaloo's but I wanted to pull out PebbleGo and PebbleGo Next to make it super easy.  These are two that our students use every day.  They will be able to just click on the laptop to take them directly to the sites.

And of course, I included Capstone Interactive where a lot of our eBooks are housed.  They love going there to read and listen to eBooks.
I included Our Virtual Makerspace choice board.
I also included the Let's Celebrate Dot Day choice board and a place to highlight...
When I was finished, I published it online and uploaded it directly Our Library page. I love how it turned out and hope our students do too.

If you'd like to make a copy to change up and use as your own, please visit this link.

You are welcome to and I would love to see what you do to make it work for your library and school community.
