This week was National STEM (STEAM) Day.
It's a day to celebrate and encourage students to pursue careers in the fast-growing fields of science, technology, engineering and mathematics. It also gives us, as teachers and librarians, an opportunity to introduce students to passions and careers they might not otherwise know exist.
As a librarian, I love finding resources that our teachers can use with our students on these special days and throughout the year to learn more about the STEAM topics and support them in their interests and curiosity.
One that I find especially helpful and exciting to use is The Achievery.
This FREE resource created by AT&T provides us with video clips from some of the most popular, well-loved movies, TV shows and cartoons from Warner Bros. and Cartoon Network, in addition to others including Boddle, Girls Who Code, Scratch and many more partners. The videos clips are paired with learning activities and lessons that teachers and students can use anywhere....at school, at home and on the go!
On The Achievery site, you will find it easy to search for video clips and activities in all of the STEAM categories of....
Just go to bit.ly/theachievery to set up your account and start finding ways to get your students excited and engaged with STEAM all year long.
