Our Library Lounge At Van Meter Is Open!

With the new year, our brand new Library Lounge popped up in the secondary collaboration space too!
Back in May, I shared the story behind the Library Lounge and three other little library branches that were popping up around our school in this post.
And last week, we did it!

Our amazing library associate, Diana, got it all organized while....
...Jessica and I put together some fun signage to market our new space to all of the secondary students and teachers within our building.

Since this space is in our collaboration space, it will be a place our students and teachers can come to browse and find a book anytime throughout the day.
For now, we created a place they can check out books on the Secondary Book Checkout sheet.

But soon, we will have an iPad on a stand where books can be checked out through our Follett Destiny library system.
The checkout will sit on the top of our book return that can be easily wheeled back and forth to the library each day.
We will be using our mobile displays on wheels to feature special new books and state award books.
And we are waiting on four new poster frames for the Iowa Award Books and two others promoting reading, creating and creativity within our kids.
Throughout the school and in the secondary office, we hung up these signs to market and promote our new Library Lounge.

We can't wait to see what this space will bring to our readers and to our community this year!
