Forming A Special New Partnership Between Our School Library and Public Library! We Can't Wait For What This Will Bring To Our Readers.

This week we are kicking off something new in our library.  We have always collaborate with our public library, especially around summer reading, Library Card Month and other events.

This year, we are bringing our two libraries together for a true partnership and dreaming up all kinds of ways we can support all readers in our community with our wonderful library series including the collections, digital resources, experiences, events and more.

Jonatha Basye, our public librarian, and myself, brainstorm all kinds of logos to start.  We decided to continue the Van Meter Readers #vanmeterreaders campaign we started last year at the school (read more about it here), because that speaks to all readers, students and adults alike.

With our Literati Book Fair and family conferences this week, we decided this would be the perfect time to kick off this new partnership and share it with our community.

To get ready for this special event, I created several different items to help us celebrate and market our partnership.
First, I went into Canva and created three different sticker designs.  I wanted to create round 2 and 3 inch stickers so I used the Round Sticker Template in Canva.

I created three different sticker designs that would appeal to the different ages and readers.

If you are interested in seeing or using the Canva template, you will find it here.

I love Sticker Mule! They always do such an amazing job.
The Sticker Printing Guide came in very handy with this process and will be helpful to you too. You can find it here on the Sticker Mule site.

You simply download your sticker designs from Canva and upload them into the sticker template you choose. So for this one, I went to Sticker Mule, picked Circle, and uploaded the three different designs.

One of the handiest things about Canva is that you can take a design, make a copy and turn it into a totally different template.
First, I changed the stickers into the Bookmark template.  I added one of the round sticker images to the front, and built the messaging around it on the bookmark.

On the back, I added the Van Meter School Library website and the Van Meter Public Library website. We want them to be able to access these resources wherever they are.

We will have lots of bookmarks always available at our libraries. In addition, we will be putting them out at community events too.
The last thing I did was to create a flyer to share with our families, students and community.  This will go out to families today with students, in the daily announcements and I added to all of our social for school, while Jonatha added it to the public library social channels too.

We can't wait for this special event on Thursday.  We will have a table set up right outside of the library since the Literati Book Fair is taking place too.
Jonatha and I will have information the bookmarks and the stickers for their water bottles or laptops,  We will also have a fun photo booth set up where kids and families can take pictures holding our big I Am A Van Meter Reader canvas that I created and ordered through Canva last year.

She will also have a spot where families and students can get their public library card.

It's going to be an amazing night as we kick off this wonderful new partnership, one that I have wish we had with our public library for a long time.

I can't wait to share more throughout the year from our Van Meter Readers, friends.
