This week we celebrate Hour of Code with Code.org and CSEdWeek.
These special events help us, as educators, librarians and families, promote the importance of computer science and possible careers for our young people in the future.
Not only do we want to give our students places to learn, explore and play through coding, we want to teach them with engaging and exciting resources throughout the week, and throughout the year.
One of the places I go to find amazing resources to use with all of our students, kindergarten to 12th grade is The Achievery. This FREE resource created by AT&T provides us with video clips from some of the most popular, well-loved movies, TV shows and cartoons from Warner Bros. and Cartoon Network, in addition to others including Boddle, Girls Who Code, Scratch and many more partners.
The videos clips are paired with learning activities and lessons that teachers and students can use anywhere....at school, at home and on the go!
On The Achievery site, you will find it easy to search for video clips and activities that tie into coding and computer science within the Technology and Engineering category.
It makes it even more exciting to find resources from organizations supporting coding and computer science like Scratch and Girls Who Code. As we learn, explore, create and celebrate this week with our students, The Achievery will be such a wonderful resource for all of us.
You will find the video clips, animations, projects and more at bit.ly/theachievery friends.
