A NEW Monthly Addition....Our S.T.E.A.M. Choice Boards For Our Students, Teachers and All Of You!

We are so excited for a new addition to our school. We are adding a S.T.E.A.M. program!

My friend and colleague, Megan Algreen, our S.T.E.A.M. teacher, and I will be planning and co-teaching this amazing class, and tying it into the library work and rotations too.  With this addition, we thought it would be helpful and fun to add a S.T.E.A.M. Choice Board to our rotation of choice boards throughout the year.

The S.T.E.A.M. Choice Boards will be a place for students to engage with science, technology, engineering, art and math learning, reading, exploration and lots of different projects to choose from. They will also be a helpful and meaningful resource for our teachers as they bring more S.T.E.A.M. to their classrooms.  They will be able to look through the different activities to see what they would like to bring to their classroom.  When they have a special one they would like to try, we can support them through materials, collaboration and co-teaching.

For the first S.T.E.A.M. Choice Board, we will be celebrating Dot Day through lots of activities and experiences.  You can share this link with your students and if you want to make changes, you will find the link to make a copy here.
The last column is for Special S.T.E.A.M. Resources.  I will always include a S.T.E.M. Challenge from our friends at Maker Maven.  You can find all of the Maker Maven S.T.E.M. Challenges here

Next, we included a place for students and teachers to read and listen to The Dot and a video of author, Peter Reynolds, sharing the story behind his special book and the inspiration for Dot Day.

PebbleGo and PebbleGo Next are two of our favorite places to go for research with our students and they have wonderful articles around color and art that are a great fit for Dot Day too.
I am also making some updates and additions to our Let's Celebrate Dot Day Choice Board and Collection by Destiny, which I will share super soon.

Megan and I can't wait to share our S.T.E.A.M. adventures with all of you.  We are excited for our S.T.E.A.M. Choice Boards to be one way we bring amazing experiences, opportunities and learning to our students, teachers and to all of you.
