Information Literacy In Today's World....Register For This Awesome Follett Webinar!

I am excited for the upcoming Follett webinar Information Literacy in Today's World: A Pandemic, Fake News and Elections taking place on April 14, 2020 at 2:00pm CST with my friend and librarian, Kristen Mattson.
As shared in the Follett Community

Information literacy is more important than ever. How can you be sure that the sources you’re consulting are accurate and reliable? Let’s use the COVID-19 pandemic as an opportunity to review our information literacy toolkits. Together, we can be even better at helping our students navigate the flood of information at their fingertips.

Before the recent pandemic uprooted all we knew, the term 'fake news' was increasingly tossed around in politics, on social media, and in daily debates. When used, it can create further division and confusion, and has led to a general distrust of the news media. So, what is the solution? Librarians and educators, of course!

In this webinar you will learn why educators should stop using the term 'fake news' in favor of more nuanced lessons that delve deep into the many shades of gray in our information landscape. You’ll leave this presentation with a deeper understanding of how (and why) information can be misleading and you’ll learn about strategies and resources that will help you be a better teacher of information.

I can't wait for this one!  You can register for this webinar here.  And even if you can't make it, you will be sent the recording and resources afterwards.
