First, let me share Can You Build A House for a Gingerbread Man? with you. You will find this challenge with all of the supplies and directions here.
This is the perfect activity for the last week of school or for an activity to do with your family at home over the holiday.
In fact, don't forget to check out all of Maker Maven's STEM Challenges! I wrote about them in this post.
With this STEM Challenge, think about all of the adorable and fun gingerbread books you can use as an introduction and extension.
One of my favorites is The Gingerbread Man...a Favorite Story in Rhythm and Rhyme from Cantata Learning. This sing-along story is a wonderful way to introduce the gingerbread man to your students at school and home.
You can sing-along here from Cantata Learning's YouTube Channel!
My friend and author Laura Murray has created a very special series about the Gingerbread Man. I just love this series as it is so much fun to follow the Gingerbread Man through his adventure through Christmas, the zoo and next up....with a Leprechaun through school!
You will find tons of wonderful activities, classroom resources,
book trailers and more from Laura here.
Laura's books and other gingerbread books are featured in this post from the Barnes and Noble Blog.
I have the best digital tool for creating and retelling the Gingerbread Man. It is Buncee!
This week I used Buncee to create my very own gingerbread story.
You will find backgrounds and lots of stickers that will be perfect for you and your students in creating a gingerbread Buncee. They can even add a video into their Buncee of them retelling the gingerbread man story.
How special would this be to share with parents and friends?
Children will love building their own gingerbread house online and you will find...
lots of ideas for building gingerbread houses on Pinterest too.
And how about making and decorating gingerbread cookies?
Check out all of these Pinterest ideas....
and there are places to do this online too.
You will find the Virtual Gingerbread Cookie Decorator here...
and one to color here.
Today, Lisa Highfill's posted this in the HyperDocs Group. It includes The Gingerbread Man HyperDoc. You will love this!
With all of these incredible gingerbread resources, I put together a new Collection.
You will find the Gingerbread Fun for You and Your Students Collection by Destiny here.
Feel free to use this Collection or make a copy and add your own resources, books and eResources too.
I also included the Winter Fun Symbaloo in the Collection, which will take your students to tons of winter resources, games, activities, songs and so much fun!
At the top, you will see the gingerbread links I included circled. You will want to make sure you point these out to your students too.
Happy Holidays Everyone. I hope you enjoy all of this gingerbread fun just as much as me!
