Please Support Our "Donors Choose" Project and Help Bring A MakerBot 3D Printer To The Library

This week we submitted our very first Donors Choose project, Please Help Us Put A MakerBot 3D Printer In Our Library.

I always love seeing the projects created by my friends and colleagues through Donors Choose.  It is so exciting to support and see the impact that they will have on young people, teachers, and communities.
Within our collaborative, active, creative, and connected library we have a lot of great things take place everyday.  The students love having access to books, eBooks, technology, Internet, and each other.
The more responsibility, tools, and resources that we give them.....
the more they WOW us with their creativity, ability, and drive within our library and school.
Now it is time to give them something that they have never used before but something that I know they will be so excited about and just love!
This fall MakerBot and America Makers announced their mission, MakerBot Academy, to put a MakerBot Desktop 3D Printer in every school in the United States.

Since that announcement, there has been a lot of talk about 3D printers on Twitter, Facebook, and at conferences.
After seeing my friend Andy's tweet about receiving his Makerbot 3D printer and reading all about it in School Library Journal, I was inspired to bring one to our library too.

And with the partnership between MakerBot and Donors Choose, our school and schools around the country can make this happen too!
By going to the Donors Choose website and to our project page, you can read all about the Makerbot 3D printer project and how you can help.
Please don't forget to mention Disney as they are matching funds until December 10, 2013To have your donation matched dollar for dollar, enter the promo code DISNEY on the payment screen.

Thank you so much for supporting our young people and all of us at Van Meter.

I can't wait to see how the imagination, creativity, and excitement for learning and making will shine with the addition of 3D printing to our library program and school.
