Join Me At The Upcoming ISTE20 LIVE Conference With A FREE Registration To One Future Ready Librarian®!

One of my favorite events every year is the annual ISTE Conference.  This year, they are reinventing this amazing conference by making it virtual with ISTE20 LIVE on November 29-December 5, 2020.

When I first started coming to the ISTE Conference several years ago, I knew that I had found my people, as so many wonderful librarians, educators, publishers, technology companies and others came together to learn, collaborate, create and dream from places around the country.  Being involved with ISTE, as a attendee, member, presenter and even as an ISTE author, has filled me with such important knowledge, confidence and ideas.  I have brought this back to my district and library, and ISTE definitely has helped shape me into the educator and librarian I am today.
With ISTE 2020 being virtual this year, there are many new things to be excited about and one of the best parts if that so many of us get to be part of this virtual event. And as librarians, there are tons of great presentations to be part of during the conference.
Take a look at a few around libraries and Future Ready Librarians® that I found on the schedule at the  conference website.
I also have the honor of presenting two times, with two amazing friends...one with Bill Bass (session information found here) and..
...one with Mark Ray (session information found here).

As you can see there is going to be such awesome learning and networking opportunities for us, as Future Ready Librarians and educators, and I would LOVE for you to be part of ISTE20 LIVE too.
To make this happen, I have partnered with the wonderful people at ISTE to offer one person FREE registration for the entire ISTE20 LIVE event from November 29 to December 5.

To enter the contest, you must "like" this post in the Future Ready Librarian Facebook page and tell me why you would like to attend ISTE20 LIVE.

And please note...

The contest is open to legal residents of their respective countries where not prohibited by law, who are eighteen (18) years of age or older. This is in no way sponsored, endorsed, administered by or associated with Facebook. By entering, entrants release Facebook of responsibility and agree to Facebook's term of use. No purchase necessary to participate.

I hope that you join us for ISTE20 LIVE coming up in just a few weeks.  As I mentioned in this post, this event and the connections I have made during ISTE events, are some of the most important connections, learning opportunities and friendships I have made over the last 12 years.

I Am A Digital Explorer Poster...A Sneak Peak At My New Book Series, ISTE Digital Explorers!

We have been working hard to debut my new book series, ISTE Digital Explorers, at the annual ISTE & ASCD Conference in San Antonio this summer.

This early chapter book series published in partnership with my friends at Capstone and ISTE, introduces important concepts in technology education and highlights all 7 of the ISTE Student Standards in the 7 books.

On Capstone's Fall 2025 Preview site, you will find...

...ISTE Digital Explorers highlighted.

So far, there is a preview of Sonia Speaks Up and this amazing...
....poster of the ISTE Student Standards.  It's so much fun and I can't wait to hang this up in our library and classrooms, and share it with our families and public library too.

And guess what?  Soon there will be an Educator's Guide, Stickers and even more to support this special new series.  I can't wait to share the special lessons and resources we created. We even have projects that include our friends at Book Creator, BreakoutEDU, MergeEDU and more.

It's going to be so much fun to share these with all of you as you bring the ISTE Digital Explorers to your libraries and classrooms too.

The Countdown Begins! 4 Days Until ISTE Digital Explorers—Explore Sonia Speaks Up and the Book Creator Reading Companion!

It's four days until the release of my new early chapter book series, ISTE Digital Explorers, with Capstone and ISTE.

Over the next four days, we will celebrate the first four books in this series.

Today, we celebrate Sonia Speaks Up.

Each book supports one of the ISTE Student Standards, which are highlighted in the back of each book.

Sonia Speaks Up supports the ISTE Student Standard: Digital Citizen.

Students will understand the importance of respecting others, staying safe online, safeguarding my well-being, and using technology responsibly in our connected world.
In the book, there are Words To Know, helpful tips to teach your students,
questions to Think About,
...and two activities including Create a Digital Citizenship Pledge and Make a Digital Citizenship Guide.
I also worked with my friends at Book Creator to create a wonderful Reading Companion for each book.

These amazing Reading Companions bring the ISTE Digital Explorers series to life through activities and projects that support and highlight the story, characters, and of course the ISTE Student Standard, Digital Citizen.
I love how it brings the book to life with these activities where students can add...
...text, drawings, stickers, voice, video and more.
I can't wait to use Sonia Speaks Up with my students, and the Book Creator Reading Companion will be the perfect place to teach, practice and celebrate the skills of being a Digital Citizen.
I really love how they will get to create a poster using Book Creator just like Sonia and her friends do in the book.  And they can even use Adobe Express to generate their avatar. They will love this part!
Also we created My Digital Citizenship Pledge to go along with the activity in the back of the book.

We will be kicking off the year with this one as we have every student create their pledge to start the new year.

You'll need a Book Creator account to remix the books into your own library.
And you will find the ISTE Digital Explorers at Capstone and on Titlewave too.

I can't wait to share Hagan Proudly Presents tomorrow, friends!

I’m so excited to share the newly released ISTE Digital Explorers Reading Companions—created in partnership with Book Creator!

Last week at ISTE Live 25, my new children’s book series, ISTE Digital Explorers, with Capstone and ISTE, officially launched! These books help teach and support essential digital literacy skills in fun, age-appropriate, and meaningful ways—all aligned with the ISTE Student Standards.

I’ve teamed up with Book Creator to develop incredible Reading Companion Activity Books. These interactive resources are designed to extend the learning from each story, giving students hands-on, creative ways to explore the digital literacy themes covered in all four books.

These companions are the perfect addition to any classroom or library, helping educators seamlessly integrate the ISTE Digital Explorers series into their teaching while empowering students with the skills they need to thrive in today’s digital world.

You will find them on this new Book Creator page that includes all six of the activity books.

There is one for each of the four books...Hagan Proudly Presents, Jack's Playground Plan,
Ana's Smart Move, and Sonia Speaks Up.

I love the Create a Favorite Animal Presentation at the end, which can also be found separately in the Book Creator library.

Celebrate Media Literacy Week With The Cyber Sleuths Series From Capstone & ISTE!

This week we celebrate Media Literacy Week. This is an annual event to raise awareness and celebrate media and information literacy for all students and communities.

As we celebrate this special week, I have the perfect series for you to highlight and share.

It's the Cyber Sleuths series, a new mystery series, written by Natasha Deen and illustrated by Mariano Epelbaum and published by Capstone and ISTE, that promote critical thinking and digital citizenship skills. It's the series that I can't wait to bring to our library and classroom this fall.

As a librarian and teacher, I love that each book ties into real-life uses of technology and media literacy skills, such as online research, social media, and using digital tools. It will give our students a great place to learn and think about various media literacy skills, while also giving us a place to tie in important conversations and learning activities.
And one of the best parts is that at the back of the book students will find the Cyber Sleuths Code which is connected to the seven ISTE Student Standards. The Cyber Sleuths are the perfect way to prepare and teach our students how to navigate the digital world they are part of every day, while reading exciting stories they love, too!

Capstone also shares this online,

Meet the Cyber Sleuths, a worldwide, online network of tech-savvy kids wired-in and ready to take on the internet’s worst scams, fakes, and bad actors. With high-tech tools and big-time data, they combat misinformation, disinformation, and malinformation circulating in their communities. Created in partnership with ISTE, this action-packed chapter book series is sure to entertain while at the same time equipping readers with critical-thinking and problem-solving skills to identify credibility in the information they consume.

Capstone is excited to partner with the International Society for Technology in Education (ISTE) to publish a special collection of children’s books promoting digital citizenship awareness and the positive and creative use of technology and digital tools. The collaboration connects our engaging storytelling with ISTE's research-based best practices on technology use in schools, empowering educators to have positive conversations around using technology to create and problem solve. Explore our growing collection of children's books!
In the Cyber Sleuths Educator's Guide, you will find Cyber Sleuths Code and amazing....
...discussion questions, extension activities and more for each of the four titles.
You can click here to go to this interactive choice board which includes a preview of The Super Berries Scam, the educators guide, poster, and crossworld puzzle.  And the purple button at the bottom will take you to the Cyper Sleuths series at capstonepub.com

The Capstone and ISTE partnership also include my book, Sonia's Digital World, and Exploring AI.  You will find all of these on the Capstone and ISTE partnership page here.
