Sign Up Today For The Discovery Education Virtual Career Fair For K-12 Learners On November 5!

I have an exciting event to share with you!

On November 5, 2025, our friends at Discovery Education are hosting Futures Fair, a free one-day, virtual career fair for all learners. We can turn our classroom, library or school event space into a virtual career fair without extra prep and a whole lot of inspiration and fun.

From 10:30am-1:30pm ET, join live sessions with professionals from a wide range of real-world careers that our students will love to learn about.  The speakers bring experience in STEM, the arts, skilled trades, entrepreneurship, public service, and more.  A few of the partners include LIV Golf, Honda, Verizon, Meta, DEA, 3M, CVS Health, and Home Depot.

There's truly something for everyone.

The Discovery Education Futures Fair is organized in three different tracks for elementary, middle, and high school.  Each session is 25-minutes long.

Speakers will share an age-appropriate overview of their role/industry and the path they took to achieve it. They’ll also highlight the future-ready skills they use in their job today, whether trade-specific skills and/or 5 Cs (e.g., collaboration, creativity, etc.).

They will build in student engagement through mini hands-on learning tasks that reinforce those skills. These tasks should be easy to do with only a plain sheet of paper and a pencil.
On the Futures Fair site, you will find the schedule. To read more about each session, just hover over the box.
At the end of the event, there is a very special session for all grades at 1:30pm ET.

In this session, we will head to Churchill, Manitoba, the polar bear capital of the world, for a live broadcast with Aaron Blaise.

Aaron is a wildlife artist and former Disney animator.  He will share his inspiring journey and explore how art can connect humans with wild animals, especially the polar bear. I can't wait to hear about his unique career path using his creativity.
You will go to this page on November 5 at 1:30pm ET to view the live event.
We can't wait to bring Futures Fair to our school community on November 5.
You can register today to bring this special event to your students too.

Here's The Pumpkin Choice Board Filled With Reading, Research, Learning and Fun Using PebbleGo and Capstone Connect!

Our youngest students have been learning about pumpkins this fall.

Today, the first grade teachers asked me to create a choice board focusing on pumpkins and one that would include research and reading around pumpkins and the life cycle of a pumpkin, plus a few fun places for them to create with pumpkins virtually too.
I started by going to Capstone Connect and searching Pumpkin.
The search brought me the PebbleGo article and...
...Capstone Interactive eBooks. I can take a screen shot and grab the link for each resource in Capstone Connect.
This makes it so quick and easy to pull together the choice boards that I create in Google Slides.
Once I have everything in the choice board, I am ready to publish the slide to share with students and teachers.

I go up to File and down to Share and Publish to the web.

This will give me a link that I can then share with students.  We just add these links to their Google Classroom.
The Pumpkin Choice Board will give our 1st graders choices as they learn all about pumpkins.

You will find the link to this choice board here where you can make a copy, add your own links or edit, and publish to share with your students too.
