The Great American Read.....100 Books To Explore In This New Program From PBS!

The Great American Read list has been posted everywhere the last week and it is exciting to see what will happen next in this new program from our friends at PBS.
On May 22 at 7:00pm CST, The Great American Read will premiere on PBS.

The Great American Read is an eight-part series that explores and celebrates the power of reading, told through the prism of America's 100 best-loved novels (as chosen in a national survey).  It investigates how and why writers create their fictional works, how we as readers are affected by these stories, and what these 100 different books have to say about our diverse nation and our shared human experience.

The series will feature entertaining and informative documentary segments, with compelling testimonials from celebrities, authors, notable Americans and book lovers across the country.  It is comprised of a two-hour launch episode in which the list of 100 books is revealed, five one-hour theme episodes that examine concepts common to groups of books on the list, and a finale, in which the results are announced of a nationwide vote to choose America's best-loved book.

You can watch this little trailer to learn more.
The voting begins on May 22.  You can cast your vote on The Great American Read website or on Twitter and Facebook using a hashtag for each book.  There will be more details on voting soon.
You can follow the #greatreadpbs hashtag on Twitter
and on Instagram at greatamericanreadpbs.  Make sure you use the #greatreadpbs on Instagram too.
As this kicks off, I have been looking at the list a lot and thinking back to all of the books I have read and ones I want to read now.  Today, I came across this quiz that I can't wait to take to see how many of the 100 books I have read.  You can take it here too

I hope you watch the premiere of this series. I know I will be and can't wait to explore these 100 books with all of you and others around the world.
